Business Experience
John Westberg, President and Founder of the New Hope for America Foundation, was CEO and Chairman of an American manufacturer of high performance automobile products employing 625 people in three U.S. factories. Before retiring in 2002, he had spent over 30 years building his business to become one of the dominant leaders in the industry, and was involved in international trade since the early 1970's. Mr. Westberg has written many articles on trade and has appeared on various radio programs addressing the significant loss of manufacturing over the past twenty years warning against the Asian invasion. Government
During the Reagan Presidency, Mr. Westberg provided written testimony to The Subcommittee on Trade of The House Ways and Means Committee to address the complicated GATT negotiations, which were a prelude to U.S. free trade agreements. His testimony warning about the perils of free trade agreements, along with President Reagan's Chief Trade Representative: Clayton Yeutter, were the only testimonies (out of many) in the final report.
